It was a turbulent year for macom founder and former managing director Björn Jensen. Since the beginning of 2023, macomGROUP has belonged to Drees & Sommer. After 20 successful years at the helm of his company, he is handing over the reins. With the strategic succession plan, he is setting the course for further growth and internationalisation. The next milestone in his vision of the world market leader for technology consulting and design, which has caused quite a stir.
Yesterday, Professional System recognised this milestone with the “Industry Member of the Year” award. At this year’s AVard awards ceremony in Hamburg on October 19th, Björn Jensen was able to accept the coveted trophy in person.
The AVard is the first ProAV Award in Germany and honours the best projects and products as well as companies and minds in the industry. The Industry Member of the Year award recognises individuals or companies that have made a name for themselves through innovative ideas or a strong commitment to the AV industry.
As a passionate entrepreneur, Jensen has always had a feeling for market developments and potentials, a strong will to implement his ideas and a big heart for AV technology. The success story began in 2003 with the focus on the core competencies of AV and IT design. In 2017, he took the step into international business with the founding of macom UK Ltd. His management consultancy Björn Jensen Management Consulting offers strategic support especially for companies in the AV and IT sectors.
Jensen was a pioneer, initiated topics such as “AV goes IT” or “AV as a service” in the industry early on and always invested in innovation with the establishment of macomLab or the XR start-up mindfine. Cooperation with universities such as HAW Hamburg and the promotion of new generations through education and training programmes for young talents for the AV market were also very important to him.
Björn Jensen is not a technician. He is a businessman, a strategist, a visionary – with an eye for the big picture, a philanthropist and a true personality in the industry.
