Eislingen/Fils, Stuttgart; 07.06.18 – Since autumn 2016, the AV technology laboratory macomLAB in Germany near Stuttgart has been the premier place to go for leading international companies to develop digitalisation strategies and evaluate collaboration technologies. Almost every week, macom experts hold workshops with the responsible executives of companies such as Boston Consulting Group, Daimler, Fidelity, L’Oréal, Merck, Porsche or Volkswagen. Now, macom has expanded the area of the macomLAB from 120 m² to more than 160 m² by an executive briefing area, a digital reality application, a co-working room and a huddle space and thus expanded the possibilities.

„Many companies are still struggeling with the demands of digitalisation. If concrete digitalisation projects are to be implemented in workspaces, we often see that the large variety of technical solutions and the concern about a lack of ROI are an impediment. This is where the macomLAB comes in. There, companies can test agile work and innovation processes with the help of interactive hardware and software. That way, they can find suitable solutions for their own processes and workspaces. “, Oliver Mack, managing director of macom GmbH explains the advantages of the macomLAB. „The LAB and our work in it are two of the reasons why we were recently voted Germany’s most innovative IT and communications service provider by Focus Money and Deutschland Test”, he emphasizes.

Digitalisation: Defining requirements, looking for solutions, exploiting the added value

The German macomLAB in Eislingen/Fils near Stuttgart offers customers full access to a facility spanning over 160 square metres for simulating and testing fully adaptable workspaces, meeting areas and modern collaboration environments. The expansions now increase the possibilities of the macomLAB: The executive area offers users an inspiring environment for discussing insights from the macom expert workshops and for planning a further courses of action. A large wall-mounted LED video wall enables the flexible display of all workshop results.

The macomROOM digital reality application brings offices, interactive workspaces and innovation laboratories to life in the early planning stages. With the help of the software, planned rooms can be configured and visualized in real time using mixed reality goggles, tablets or notebooks and can be entered virtually. This not only speeds up the planning process, but also provides greater transparency through support such as the display of viewing distances and thus increases acceptance for the planned implementation.

The new CoWorking room and the huddle space offer expanded capacities for flexible working. The CoWorking room with 4 to 6 workplaces and an interactive display for meetings and video conferences offers an efficient way to work – alone or in a group. In the huddle space a digital signage area for infotainment and ad-hoc meetings is available.

In addition, the macomLAB has a large collaboration area with a six-meter-long interactive projection screen. There, various collaborative working scenarios can be set up and used for workshops. This not only promotes creative work in the planning phase of projects. Also, the customers can test potential hardware and software solutions for their own workspaces directly in action and thus evaluate the right solution for themselves. Large-scale interactive LCDs with integrated camera and soundbar enable uncomplicated video conferencing and collaborative work.
